Temple Sinai was founded in 1870 as the first Reform Jewish Congregation in New Orleans. In addition to Worship Services for the Sabbath, Festivals and Holidays, Temple Sinai offers Jewish educational opportunities including a Sunday Religious School, a Mid-week Hebrew School for those in preparation for Bar/Bat Mitzvah, as well as dynamic adult education courses throughout the year. Cantor Joel Colman administers and instructs at the Hebrew School. It has a Gay & Lesbian Chavurah that sponsors special Shabbat and holiday social and spiritual observances. The Sisterhood, Brotherhood, Youth Group, Young Families Chavurah, and the Adult and Youth Choirs add opportunities for participation in Temple life.
