Woldenberg Village is a not-for-profit, multi-service residential retirement community covering 12 acres on the West Bank of New Orleans. Founded in 1962 by Jewish Federation of Greater New Orleans as Willow Wood Nursing Home, the original facility was acquired by Touro Infirmary in 1998 and a new modern complex of buildings on the original site was dedicated in 2002. Weekly Shabbat services are held on site, Jewish holidays are observed and Jewish cultural activities are included in the full and diverse activities program for residents. Woldenberg also specializes in geriatric rehabilitation services for residents and for short term inpatients.
The Village includes:
• The Villas is a sixty-unit independent living community featuring large one- and two-bedroom garden apartments with fully equipped kitchens. Services include 24 hour emergency response, optional meal plan, group activities, some transportation and weekly housekeeping/laundry.
• The Azaleas is a sixty-unit assisted living community featuring efficiency and one-bedroom apartments. Various levels of care are offered based on an individual’s specific needs. Services include three well-balanced meals a day, group activities, some transportation, 24 hour on-site caregiver support and weekly housekeeping/laundry. It also includes the Evergreens, an early stage dementia unit.
• Willow Wood is a 120-bed skilled nursing facility providing intermediate and skilled care. Other services include physical, speech and occupational therapy; psychiatric and nutritional counseling; on-site medical staff; recreational, music and pet therapy; and transportation.
The Renaissance at Willow Wood is an advanced Dementia/Alzheimer’s unit for long-term care.
