Jewish Community Relations

What is Jewish community relations?

Within the Jewish community, Community Relations focuses on outreach, a long-term strategy for deepening the engagement of those on the periphery of Jewish life, such as the under-engaged, or intermarried.  Outreach achieves its goal through an interconnected series of personal contacts with friendly, trained Jewish communal professionals or volunteers at fun, educational, and meaningful programs and events.

Constituent and beneficiary agencies and organizations, such as Jewish Family Service and Jewish Children’s Regional Service,  also serve and support those in need in the community and form a lifeline network that all community members can depend on.  In terms of our post-Katrina city, Community Relations has played a vital part in reconnecting friends and family members, collaborating on rebuilding projects, and recruiting new community members.
